Install Unraid as Proxmox Virtual Machine
Proxmox Settings
- OS
- Do not use any media (we boot from a USB)
- Type: Other
- System
- Graphic card: VMware compatible
- Machine: Default (i440fx)
- BIOS: Default (SeaBIOS)
- SCSI Controller: VirtIO SCSI single
- Qemu Agent: UNCHECKED
- Add TPM: UNCHECKED
- CPU
- Sockets: 1
- Cores: 4
- Type: host
- Memory
- 4096
- Ballooning Device: CHECKED
- Network
- Bridge: vmbr0
- Model: VirtIO (paravirtualized)
- Confirm
- Don't start vm after creation
- Finish
Passthrough some stuff
- Datacenter → Node name → VM
- Click Hardware
- Click Add
- PCI Device
- Raw Device
- Device: Select the Device you want to add based on its address
- For UNRAID, I added both SATA controllers (0a:00 and 0b:00)
- All Functions: CHECKED
- Click OK
- For USB
- Click Add
- USB Device
- Use USB Port
- Choose Port: Cruzer Fit (9-1)
- Use USB3: CHECKED
Cleanup
- Turn off all the things on your Unraid Server that proxmox now does…
- Turn off Docker (I left it on in the beginning so i could copy over all the settings for each container)
- Turn off VMs
- Turn off UPS Power manager
- Turn off scripts that auto run items
- etc
